During 2021, Felicia Engstrøm started photographing water, as an introspective response to an otherwise controlled world, marked by infection rates and pandemic politics, but her eternal curiosity turned the project around, as research opened up for a whole new understanding of the water that surrounds us. The result is a photo book called Thoughts Of Water (Under Overfladen). Handmade*.
With almost fragile compositions, Felicia examines the water in such detail, most people would miss, on their walks along the urban water areas. With uncertainty, we look at the alluring mystique of the water, photographed in and around Copenhagen and Gothenburg, with forewords that provide an insight of the human impact on the aquatic environment we see today.
*Correction: It is mentioned in the book that it was printed at HDK-Valand in Gothenburg. Due to complications, the inside of the book was printed and cut by Christensen Grafisk in Copenhagen instead. The rest has been done by the artist herself.
